About this deal

One of the primary fallacies of effective management is that it makes learning unnecessary. This mindset assumes your initial plan should be 100% perfect and followed to the letter. First 1/3 part of this audio book is mostly a waste of time. It's a very basic overview of some complicated tasks you'll meet in business live. Much has been made in business schools about "scientific management" and the need for highly educated, professionally trained managers. In reality, you can't learn to be a competent manager in a classroom-beyond a few simple principles, it's a skill best learned through experience. Consistently using the Golden Trifecta-appreciation, courtesy, and respect-is the best way to make the individuals on your team feel Important, and is also the best way to ensure they respect you as a leader and manager. The first hour of the audiobook is setting the scene, with a variety of weak arguments about why an MBA is a waste of time and money, but giving absolutely no evidence that the Author's approach (of just reading lots of books without going to school) isn't also a waste of time and slightly less money.

The previous review put me off purchasing this, but I had seen the book and decided to give it a go. Have an aggressive plan to complete the project, but don't have unrealistic expectations regarding certainty and prediction. The case studies in question need not emphasize about being definitely true universally, the dynamics of every market differ indefinitely. Why you’ll love this business ebook: Most marketing books share a general overview in the ways you can market your business. But no one ever shares the exact marketing strategies and tactics you need to do to win in business. This isn’t the type of ebook where you’ll learn you should market on Facebook or some other platform. This is the type of ebook where you’ll learn the exact tactics within Facebook marketing you should be exploring. You’ll also discover what other online businesses are doing differently within the whole realm of marketing. You’ll also get to read some pretty great advice from successful marketers and entrepreneurs. No other marketer would ever share this many secrets – business books don’t get better than this . 9. The Personal MBA by Josh Kaufman Education is great. If I didn't believe that, I sure wouldn't have started a blog about it. But so is avoiding foolish six-figure debt. Consult your boss, and consult this book before proceeding.

Without Value-Creation, a business can’t exist — you can’t transact with others unless you first have something to trade. The best businesses in the world are the ones that create the most value for other people.

The Personal MBA 10th Anniversary Edition - Penguin Random House

These are the best business books that will help your business grow. 1. How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie

In The Personal MBA Josh Kaufman makes a very compelling case (as does Will Hunting) that for people considering an MBA, the economics aren't that great. For many graduate students (not just Business majors), it feels like a Casino: everyone takes the tests, and gets primed, then takes out a huge loan from the bank (often a six-figure amount) hoping that when they come out the other side, there will be an awesome, high-paying job waiting for them. It's a financial transaction, not really an educational one. In fact, much of the education gleaned from an Master in Business Administration is theoretical and marginally updated from the projects and Case Studies done in Bachelor of Business and Economics programs; after all, how can you possibly sit in a classroom and `learn' how to be a Manager, or an Executive? Of course you can't. But the schools are more than willing to let you try, as long as the cheques clear. What can you do to improve at providing the essentials of what your team needs to get things done, then getting out of the way? Management is a unique skill that requires discipline, patience, clear communication, and a commitment to keeping everyone working together without unnecessary distractions. By recruiting a good team and eliminating as much Friction as possible, you’ll achieve the results you’re seeking. Questions About 'Management' The best working environment takes full advantage of Guiding Structure-provide the best equipment and tools possible, and ensure the environment reinforces the work the team is doing.

Management - The Personal MBA

It's rare that I listen to audio book and then run out and buy the dead-tree edition. But I will with this one. This is a reference book that should be on the desk of every entrepreneur or business owner. In clear, simple terms, devoid of buzz words Kaufman lays out everything you need to know about business. It truly is an MBA-lite. I liked it's clear structure, which had impact and purpose. Lots of example stories and case studies also make this a book worth getting. Stop thinking of the management team at the top of the organization. Start thinking of the software developers, the designers, the product managers, and the front line sales people as the top of the organization... The “management team” isn’t the “decision making” team. It’s a support function. You may want to call them administration instead of management, which will keep them from getting too big for their britches.Business Book Summary: Tomas Slimas’ The Ultimate Guide to Starting Your First Ecommerce Businessintroduces readers to the fundamentals of starting an ecommerce business. You’ll learn how to come up with product ideas, how to launch your online store, how to find suppliers and even tips for creating your first ad. However, as a reference book, it's really not a great listen on your daily commute. Think dictionary-on-tape. Maybe that's a little harsh, but it's not exactly a pot boiler that makes you miss your exit. Small, elite teams are best. 2. Clearly communicate the desired End Result, who is responsible for what, and the current status. A world-class business education in a single volume. Learn the universal principles behind every successful business, then use these ideas to make more money, get more done, and have more fun in your life and work. Don't make that team too large, however- Communication Overhead makes each additional team member beyond a core of three to eight people a drag on performance.
